Enjoying the Benefits of Infused Water

Infused water, have you tried it?  If you’re a gardener or you’d like to try your hand at it, you might want to start with herbs.  Not everyone wants to grow herbs.  If that’s the case, you can find reputable suppliers at your farmer’s market  or online.  Want a sweeter taste for your water?  Try infusing it with fruits.

What Are Some of the Benefits of Infused Water?

  • Most of them taste good - I won’t lie, for some of herbal waters, you must have an acquired taste. You can remedy that by adding natural sweeteners.  That might defeat the purpose though.  Your water then becomes like soda or sweet tea.
  • No calories or sugar grams to count (unless you add it).
  • You can add herbs, flowers or fruit and benefit from their essence.
  • You'll drink more water! Your skin will benefit from the consumption of more water.  A hydrated body produces beautiful skin.
  • Perfect for daily use - You can sip on infused water all day and benefit from the herb of choice.
  • Aromatherapy - Yes your herb of choice can often uplift your spirts, quell anxiety, improve focus and possibly aid with digestion.  As you sip on the water, you benefit from the aroma that comes off the herbs.
  • Refreshing and Hydrating -  Herbal infused waters can often hydrate better that tea.
  • Beautiful to Look At - When you add your herbs to a glass container, it’s like creating a bouquet scape in a bottle. Depending on the herbs, it can look like an underwater garden.
When you consider caring for your beautiful black skin, water is a key element.  Without properly hydrated skin, you could experience dry, dull, ashy skin.  Infused water offers you alternatives for taste.  Whether it's watermelon and strawberries or cucumbers, ginger and rosemary, the flavors will give you a chance to pep up the flavor.

How To Quench Your Thirst With Infused Water ?

A lot of you don’t like the taste of water and by adding a little flavor, it makes it easier to ingest.  The possibilities are endless when it comes to herb choices. They’re a great alternative to flavored water found in the grocery store.  You know what you’re getting when you make it yourself.

More importantly, infused water, encourages you to drink more water while taking your health into your own hands.

Citrus - While citrus is a fruit, it’s a great way to introduce yourself to infused water.  It’s as simple as adding lemon to water and drinking.  Of course there’s orange, grapefruit and lime to consider when adding citrus to your water.

Cucumber - Have you ever had fresh cucumber added to your water.  It’s a real thirst quencher and it’s great for your skin.  Cucumber’s help move sludge through your system, thereby enhancing the beauty of your skin from within.

Lemon Balm - While it’s not the greatest tasting infused water when use by itself, it helps ground herbs like holy basil, mint and other lemon flavored herbs.

Mint  leaves taste so good when added to water.  Add it bit of lime and you’re got a mojito in your glass.  Okay, minus the rum and sugar.  You can add seltzer water and a natural sweetener and create your own soda.

Rosemary is for the more sophisticated palate.  In the world of aromatherapy, it’s been said that rosemary perks up your brain.  I use it in a diffuser along with basil and orange essential oils when I’m studying.  I can sit for hours and not feel tired.

Herbal Infused Water Recipe

I love to mix:

1/4 cup fresh ginger,

2 sprigs of rosemary,

handful of mint,

1 lemon thinly sliced  and

1 cucumber thinly sliced

Add all ingredients to a glass container and place it in the refrigerator for at least an hour.  It’s a very thirst quenching drink anytime of the year.

This is to get you started with the idea of introducing herbal infused water into your daily liquid intake.  As you palate matures and your creativity kicks in, you’ll be more bold in your choice of herb, flowers and fruits.
